my colleagues and i arrived there by 12:30ish and the place was jampacked with people! we were perspiring as we go back and forth hoarding perfumes hehe. i didn't bother to buy any makeup this time as i bought some from Paul and Joe and Givenchy last year but haven't really been using them most of the time. not to say that they're not good, but they're not overly fantastic either. i don't want to buy stuff i will later not use and end up throwing or selling cheaply so i passed. i also saw some Jessica Simpson items. i didn't see Ferrari this time - i even overheard some men looking for it.

are you going or have gone already? what are you getting or have gotten? last day of sale is on Friday so if you're keen, go now!

MWAH! #2

Happy weekend! It's a gloomy day today. The sun barely peeked through and the rain pitter-pattered. But no amount of bad weather stopped my daughter and I from looking forward to spending girl time! We watched Breaking Dawn Part 2, just the two of us, and it was awesome!

excited during Burger King breakfast - a few minutes away from epic conclusion of the Twilight Saga!

If you still don't know, on weekends I choose to tackle topics besides "serious makeup/beauty talk" and just share what I love. I call these posts MWAH - Making Weekends Absolutely Heartwarming.

Onto the movie - we loved it a lot! It would've been perfect if it weren't for all the graphic display of affection but other than that it was cool! This story may be flawed but Edward doesn't fail to mesmerize me as Jacob does for my daughter haha. I'd like to mention specifics but just in case you haven't seen it, I don't want to spoil it for you. *wink*

Speaking of spoilers, there's one that I can't get over it - Dakota Fanning's makeup!

I mean seriously, who did her eye makeup?! There is no symmetry and finesse in it. It was like the professional MUA called in sick. I wonder why they didn't bother to correct that? *sigh* It's a thousand miles apart from her awesome look in New Moon:

Right??? She looked so hot here! Anyway, good thing the reason why I watch this movie is 1) I love the Twilight book series and 2) I love Robert Pattinson. *big grin*

More than the movie itself, I totally enjoyed watching it with my daughter. Even though she's on Team Jacob (I tease her he's a pedo because he imprinted on a newborn haha!) and I'm obviously on Team Edward (well, more like Team Rob really lol), we agree that we are Twihards hehe. It was great to do something we both like and enjoy together since we usually can be so different from one another. She isn't crazy one bit about makeup or hair like me - unless you count her obsession with liquid felt-tip eyeliner for drawing stuff on her palm or hands haha. I was so touched because she took to heart my company that she didn't even put on her earphones while we're on the bus en route to the movie house. We just chatted until we reached the mall. May be small stuff for some but totally big time for yours truly. And before the movie started, I asked her if she loves these bonding moments with me alone and she said yes. I told her I love her and she replied back that she cannot answer me the same thing but that I know she does. Hahaha, teens these days. As now that she's twelve years old and would either spend time with her friends or do her own thing (play video games, read books in her room, fiddle with her phone), I'm thankful for days like this because she still likes to do bonding activities with me and probably still secretly enjoys she's my only and beloved little princess. *dreamy grin*

How's your weekend? Having a blast with people that matter to you? What movie have you seen lately and with whom?

Enjoy your rest. Tell your loved ones you love them today and put a smile not only on their faces, but on their hearts.

NOTD: Deborah Lippmann Nefertiti

I mourned the day my MAC Mercenary died on me. OK it's my bad; I put it in my makeup bag without proper protection and the next thing I knew, the bottle shattered and the contents poured out like madness! The point is, I miss it. I never really took a liking to MAC nail lacquers, as they are mostly misses that hits, but that one I loved loved loved so much. I'm a bit picky with gold polish so I treasured it very much. It's LE so there's no hope in getting another now, one that is reasonable of course because if I'm mad enough to really want one I could succumb to ridiculous offers at eBay, if one's even available there.

With that said, I was thrilled when Luxola.com brought Nefertiti into their Deborah Lippmann line. I've been wanting many DL polishes since I became a nail polish addict and this is just one of my lemmings. I grabbed one as soon as they made it available for purchase.

All pictures are taken under natural lighting and without flash. The polish is applied in two coats and without a top coat.

This gold is lighter than 18K gold I believe and so for me I think it looks a lot more sophisticated, unlike MAC Mercenary which is an antique gold so it looks more daring. The finish is metallic and the hue is very flattering to my skintone. As with other DL polishes I own, this dries fast even without a top coat and stays on for a decent time before you can see any noticeable chipping (about 3-4 days with minimal activity involving wetting of hands). Final verdict: I really like this very much, I almost love it. I think the edgy side of me still wants this to push one more step for me to love it, like MAC Mercenary did for me, but alas haven't. Still, this is a great color to sport for mani if you want to stay classy but show a bit of adventure.

Are you loving gold mani too? What's your favorite polish? Spill girlfriend!

Take a breather after working hours pretties! Enjoy the rest of your Thursday.

OOTD: understated animal print + peplum trend + bright skinnies + nude pumps

I want to try something new today. I don't believe I have posted an outfit entry before so I'm gonna try that. I'm still a budding plus size fashionista though so please bear with me if my look is not comparable with fashion bloggers, who are really in their zone and are actually my inspiration to spice up my wardrobe. *wink*

I wore this ensemble a couple of weeks ago while serving as a volunteer makeup artist in our church's image ministry. I got this fabulous and flattering black peplum top with puffed and ribbed shoulder part long sleeves at $33.90 from Qiqi Plus, a plus size fashion seller based in Singapore. It is so comfy to wear and lets my skin breathe as it's made from cotton. It's also forgiving because it's stretchable - perfect for a big armed lady like myself. I bought my bright green skinny jeans at 3rd (or 4th?) floor of 168 mall in Divisoria for, if I remember correctly, about PhP500+. This is actually in the men's section of the store I got it from (sorry, I cannot recall the store's name anymore) but the fit was good that I didn't care it's for guys lol. The nude pumps, I was able to score at Powerplant Dorothy Perkins during their sale for I think not more than PhP400. I thought my top and bottom already have statement so I opted to wear just one accessory, which is my deep green tassel earrings from Holic Accessories, an online accessories shop based in Philippines. You can see it better here (as worn by Nicole Andresson) as I think the lighting of my picture drowned it out. I love this as it never fails to grab (good) attention as I always get complimented when wearing it. I got this for PhP350.

What do you think of my outfit?

Be positive and productive this awesome Wednesday, my beautiful readers!

Swatchfest: Sleek Makeup i-Divine Au Naturel, Storm and Sunset palettes

One part of being a blogger is sharing swatches with readers. I especially appreciate this from fellow bloggers who preceeded me because I could have that glimpse of what the product could look like first before I actually buy it, which is most applicable to colored products such as eyeshadow, eyeliner, lipstick, lip gloss, etc. Today, I want to dedicate a post to swatches only as I've yet to review these products. I prefer to review them one palette at a time so that will come later. I may be already late to the Sleek Makeup eyeshadow palettes party so to speak but still I wanted to share mine in hopes that there may be others who seek what it will look like on their skintone which could be same to mine. For all of these swatches I didn't use any eyeshadow primer, applied with fingers only and swiped colors twice for shimmery ones & four to five times for matte ones. Let's take a look at some eye candy then!

Hope you liked my swatches! For info, I took these shots with iPhone 4S only at natural day lighting. I liked that the quality is very good. Previously, I would use a digital camera, download pictures to my laptop, crop  (one by one thru resizing manually with a mouse) & watermark (one by one thru typing same text) it then upload to my blog post. Now, I take photo with my phone, watermark (I use the free version of iWatermark app, I create a template watermark and then use it template to apply for each picture with just a simple tap) then upload directly to Blogger app. It's faster because I don't involve anything other than my mobile phone without sacrificing the quality of the photo, I love it!

Have a blessed day everyone!

Wishlist granted: Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Camellia

We beauty enthusiasts all have wishlists, right? For those with significant halves of their lives, we secretly want them to get one or some from it for us because it will just make our day to get something we really like won't it? I know I would.

My hubby did just that! He came home from his business trip yesterday and he brought me a present -- the limited edition Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Camellia!

When we left for Manila back in June, I saw this at Changi DFS. I fell in love with the scent the moment I tested it! It's fresh, crisp and flowery but not sweet or woodsy. Sadly, my hubby reasoned with me not to buy it at the time. With held back tears, I succumbed and became the epitomy of an obedient wife. It was not so hard letting go of it since I still have perfume but the idea that I was so close to getting it then lost it made me a bit sad for a while. So you could imagine my smile was ear to ear when he told me to send a picture of it so he could find it at the airport. I'm so proud of my hubby! He strives and continues to thrive in being a loving and thoughtful husband to me not only by giving me material things, but the fact he remembered what I liked is priceless for me -- especially since he's not usually like that. I can only thank God for His continuous restoration and uplifting of our relationship as husband and wife. I doubt you're reading this my dear hubby, but in the rare case that you are, I want the whole cyberworld to know that I thank you and appreciate you and your everyday intention to work on the success of our marriage. Oh, and I love you! Well, even if he isn't reading this I've told this to him already hehe!

If you are curious, 100ml comes to a damage of S$55 at Changi DFS.

Have you received a wonderful surprise recently too? I'd love to hear it! Let's share positivity this beautiful Monday. *wink*

Have a great start of the week!

MWAH! #1

Happy weekend beauties! Weekends are those times of the week people look forward to the most. It's when we usually spend quality time with our families and friends, play sports, enjoy our favorite hobby, or just chillax and unwind. Personally, I believe they are days we should breathe and let our hair loose.

Which is why I thought of sharing with you my personal opinion on beauty, other interests or hobby, people and even belief. What better days to do that but on Saturdays and Sundays? Lo and behold! MWAH - Making Weekends Absolutely Heartwarming - is born. I believe anything that comes from the heart with an intention to touch another heart is heartwarming. I desire to let you see a side of me besides makeup looks, swatches, hauls, etc. After all, beauty is not just skin deep. Audrey Hepburn once said, "The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides." So, with that said, I hope you could open up too and strike a conversation with me. *grin*

Bear with me though, I want to go easy as this is my first MWAH. Shall we start with numero uno?

I used to think that I'm weird because I keep boxes of beauty products. No matter what is it -- skincare, makeup, nail polish, whatever -- I will not throw it away after getting the actual product. Although with some time passing by, I will usually let them go. But that will take weeks at least. The boxes of the haul I got from two months ago is still in my drawer. Seriously. I don't know why I keep them. Probably because they look pretty. *sigh* I really don't know hehe.

I also picked up a knack for accessories this year. I grew up sporting only hoop earrings until I was in college. I never really wore necklaces, bracelets and rings. Firstly, I went to school by a jeep that passes by Divisoria. If you don't want a snatcher's attention, you'd better look plain and simple. I cannot tell you how many people I see get the shock of their lives when a snatcher takes their bulky or flashy bags, dangling earrings and dainty bracelets and necklaces. No wonder I never became a target, thank God. But you see, I think that's why I never took a real liking on accessories. Yet things have changed and nowadays there are tons of accessories that are not really jewelry looking but laid back, casual and even unconventional. And before I knew it, my collection grew from just a handful to this:

Is that crazy or what? I noticed I leaned on picking items that are not particularly classic or safe. I suppose my taste in eyeshadow hues rubbed off on my taste for jewelry. Neat right? Staying true to my soul. *wink*

I better cut off this post before it drags on longer hehe. Now, I want to hear from you! Do you feel somewhat attached to product boxes like I am? Have you always been drawn to accessories or just found a love affair with them as I did?

A bit of personal tidbit -- my hubby will be returning from his overseas business trip on Sunday. Yey! I missed him so much. I promise myself I will make time to bond with him this weekend. With that, I hope you'll have a fantastic rest and enjoyable time. Til the next weekend!

Review: Duo eyelash adhesive

It's yet the end of another work week - hooray! I'm looking forward to this weekend as my hubby returns from his business trip of 18 days from Norway. I'm going to convince him to eat at Thai Express hehe. I know you got plans on your own for the coming weekend so onto this short and sweet review. *wink wink*

what Duo says:
- World's largest seller/waterproof
- Dries invisibly
- Ingredients: Water, Cellulose Gum, Sodium Dodecylbenzenesulfonate, Rubber Latex, Fragrance (Parfum), Formalin Solution, Ammonium Hydroxide

Mhean says:
- I got in on sale at Luxola for S$7 for 7g of product.
- I'm not comfortable with the packaging because even though it dispenses the product through a pointy nozzle, the hole is still a bit big that I feel it dispenses more product that it should compared to other adhesives I use (Spring Heart & Dolly Wink). Therefore, I end up using more product and not able to distribute it evenly or even if I can, it takes more time to do so as I need to adjust where to spread everything evenly.

- If you're not careful to put this on your lash before it's sticky, there are parts where you stick it to that it won't be clear (it'll still be white). I had to work around this by putting black liner over it.
- My biggest frustration about this is that it stings! I have not put anything on my eye before that made me cry  so much as if someone broke my heart! It was just very bad. My eyes were burning, that after putting on the lashes with it for about 5 minutes, I just surrendered and took it off. So not worth it.

Final verdict: I had high hopes for this product as almost every review I came upon across about it highly recommends it. Well, it obviously didn't work for me. It is the very first eyelash adhesive that made me hated wearing false eyelashes. I suppose am allergic with one or more of the ingredients in it that caused the sudden and terrible irritation. If this has worked for you, good for you.

Do you love this product? Or did you hate it too like I did? I'd love to hear your experience!

Enjoy your rest dear readers!

Review: Paperself Small Peacock

Each morning, it is our eyes who gives us a glimpse of what another day could bring. Today, I want to share a review on a pretty enhancer to our peepers - Paperself false eyelashes.

What probably set this apart the other false eyelashes widely available is its material - paper. You read that right - paper false eyelashes. I actually thought that it is ridiculous to market false eyelash made from paper as it is not as sturdy and waterproof as say real hair or synthetic lashes. But it's probably due to the nature of it that the design is very intricate and creative that being the curious makeup maniac that I am, made me gave it a try. I wasn't ready to commit to a full eyelash with the over-the-top designs so I got a half first - Small Peacock.

Mhean says:
- Even the most boring eye makeup will get spruced up with this lash! I fell in love with how fabulous the design looked like. It was definitely eye-catching!
- It's very easy to use and I notice the eyelash adhesive dried faster too.
- I know it says in the packaging that it's only best for one-time use, but if you're really careful with it, it can last for a few more use.
- It's a little pricey - S$28 for 2 sets of half eyelashes at Luxola. However, the originality and gorgeousness of the designs totally makes up for it.
- Due to the nature of the designs, it is not intended for everyday use - unless you work or socialize somewhere where creativity is highly encouraged.

Final verdict: If only I can wear this on a daily basis, I would get more! Still, I wouldn't bat my eyelash twice before telling someone to check it out! It was definitely worth getting.

Do you have Paperself lashes? What do you love or hate about it? If you don't own one, would you want to? Why would you? Do spill!

NOTD: China Glaze For Audrey + Models Own Boogie Nights

Wonderful Wednesday to you all! Am so sorry for the lack of posts for so long as work, family and church ministry took the bulk of my time. As much I wanted to blog, I really couldn't find the time to do so. Thankfully, today is a public holiday in Singapore (Deepavali) and since I don't have any activities lined up for the day, I thought I'd schedule posts. Onto the review then!

Oh how I adored this color combination! It definitely has that festive spirit but in the not-so usual colors of blue & purple. Normally, China Glaze For Audrey would look whimsical but put together and not out-of-control loud. With Models Own Boogie Nights, it just got the right amount of sparkle to look uber fun and almost ready for a holiday party! The glitter are in different sizes and shapes that makes it much more interesting. Btw, this swatch is comprised of two coats CG For Audrey, one coat Boogie Nights and no top coat.

If you're curious, I got Boogie Nights from Luxola as part of their holiday shop, which I understand is still only available for selected dear customers. Aww I feel loved hehe! Do check out their online store regularly to see if it's already available and avoid being ran of stock.

What takes your finger fancy these days? Are your nails asking for glitter glam too?!
